A Day Out in Japan

One of the things that is a constant “challenge” in Japan is the rotten exchange rate for the US dollar. When we were here twenty years ago, I recall an exchange rate of over 230 yen to the dollar. Now it’s around 106 yen. We find ourselves doing things like buying 3 meals for 6 people just because it seems so outrageous to pay 100 bucks for a meal and taking advantage of anything that’s offered for free. For your amusement (and our heartburn) here is an approximate accounting of our family’s trip to Hiroshima and Miyajima. The prices (in dollars) are included to the best of our recollection…
