2-8-03 END OF FIRST WEEK

After spending a nine hour flight with Sophie whining and hitting me because "she can't sleeeeeeep", I was not in the best mood when I arrived in Chile. Nevertheless, I quickly warmed up to Santiago, Chile's bustling, if somewhat smoggy capital. While it does have its faults (the aforementioned smog, the traffic, the eternal partying while I try to sleep), Santiago is not without its own brand of charm. For instance, the Metro (subway) system underground makes it possible to survive without owning a car; from our apartment, our family can easily walk to the embassy, or to a number of excellent restaurants. (Maybe the walking will do me some good). However, between school, meals, and my father's sporadic filming, there simply is not enough time in the day and I don't get enough sleep. I guess eventually I will adapt...
